Above the clouds drifts Arcana, the last island where magic still burns, and it has one keeper left.
Orrin is the last archmage. He carries the Heart of Arcana, the power that holds back the dark. When a student he once failed comes home to take it by force, Orrin does the one thing his order swore never to do: he reaches into another world for help.
What he gets is Leo Hayes. He's fifteen. An hour ago he was in his bedroom, still angry at his dad, with a text from his mom left on read and a promise to his little sister he now can't keep. All he wants is to go home.
The magic has other plans.
